The first half ended in a goalless draw (0-0), despite the Australian team almost completely controlling all of its events, but its players were unable to decipher the strong Indian defense, which was valiant in preventing more than one dangerous opportunity.
Australia took the lead in the 50th minute through Jackson Irvin, before Jordan Boss added the second goal in the 73rd minute.
With this victory, the Australian national team earned the first 3 points in the group stage of the Asian Cup, topping Group Two, which also includes Syria and Uzbekistan.
